MakeMyPDF takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we handle your files, and what third-party services we use.

Client-side tools — your files never leave your device

The majority of our tools (merge, split, compress, rotate, crop, watermark, sign, edit, and more) run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. When you use these tools:

  • No file data is sent to any server.
  • No file data is stored in cookies, localStorage, or any database.
  • Processing happens in your browser's memory and is discarded when you close the tab.
  • You can verify this by opening your browser's Network tab — you will see zero upload requests while using client-side tools.

Server-side tools — minimal, temporary processing

A few tools require server-side processing because the underlying technology doesn't run in browsers. These include OCR, Word/PDF conversion, password protection, and heavy compression. When you use these tools:

  • Your file is sent to our processing server over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
  • The file is held in memory only for the duration of processing (typically a few seconds).
  • The processed result is returned to your browser and the original file is deleted immediately. We do not write uploaded files to disk.
  • We do not read, index, or analyze the contents of your files.

Analytics and cookies

We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how people use the site (which tools are popular, what pages get traffic). We do not use analytics until you consent via the cookie banner. Essential cookies (like your consent preference) are always stored.

Advertising

We display ads to keep the site free. Ad scripts are loaded only after you provide consent. We do not share your file data with advertising partners — ads are served based on page context, not file contents.

Data we collect

  • Page views and tool usage counts — aggregated, no personally identifiable information.
  • Cookie consent preference — stored in your browser's localStorage.
  • Server logs — standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) retained for 30 days for security and debugging.

We do not collect names, email addresses, or account information. There are no user accounts.

Third-party services

  • Vercel — hosting and CDN. Subject to Vercel's privacy policy.
  • Google AdSense — advertising (loaded only with consent).

Your rights

Because we don't collect personal data or require accounts, there is nothing to delete or export. If you have questions about your data, contact us at [email protected].
