How to merge PDF files

Combine two or more PDF files into a single document.

  1. 1

    Open the Merge PDF tool

Go to makemypdf.com/merge-pdf in any modern browser.

  2. 2

    Add your PDF files

Drag and drop your PDFs onto the upload area, or click to browse. You can add multiple files at once.

  3. 3

    Reorder the files

Drag each file card up or down to set the order. The first file becomes the first pages of the merged output.

  4. 4

    Click Merge

The tool combines the files in your browser using pdf-lib — no upload occurs.

  5. 5

    Download the merged PDF

Save the result to your device. Rename it to whatever you like.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server when I merge?

No. The Merge PDF tool runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your files never leave your device.

Is there a limit to how many PDFs I can merge?

There is no hard file-count limit. The practical limit is your browser memory — merging 20–30 typical PDFs works comfortably on most devices.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

You need to remove the password first using the Unlock PDF tool. Once unlocked, the files can be merged normally.

Does merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?

No. The merger copies pages without re-encoding, so text stays sharp and images keep their original resolution.
