How to resize a PDF

Change a PDF's page size to A4, Letter, Legal, A3, or A5.

  1. 1

    Open Resize PDF

    Go to makemypdf.com/resize-pdf.

  2. 2

    Upload your PDF

Drop the file onto the upload area.

  3. 3

    Pick a target page size

A4 and Letter cover most everyday needs. Legal is taller for US contracts. A3 is double-A4 for posters; A5 is half-A4 for booklets.

  4. 4

    Choose orientation and scaling

Auto orientation matches each source page. "Fit" preserves the original aspect ratio with margins; "Stretch" fills the new page edge-to-edge.

  5. 5

    Download the resized PDF

The tool rewrites the file with the new dimensions and gives you the result to save.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Fit and Stretch?

Fit keeps the page contents proportional and adds whitespace where needed. Stretch fills the entire new page, which can distort text and images if the new aspect ratio differs from the source.

Will resizing affect text quality?

No. Pages are embedded as scalable vector content, so text and lines stay sharp at any size. Raster images may look softer if scaled up significantly.

Can I convert from US Letter to A4 (or vice versa)?

Yes — that is one of the most common uses. Pick the target size and the tool handles the slight aspect-ratio difference for you.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The resizing happens entirely in your browser via pdf-lib.
