Frequently asked questions

Which fields can I edit?

Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, and Creator. The Producer field is set by whichever app originally wrote the PDF and is kept read-only to preserve provenance.

Does editing metadata change the pages themselves?

No. Pages and their content are copied as-is. Only the document-info dictionary is rewritten.

Why would I want to change metadata?

Cleaner file listings, better searchability in document managers, removing outdated author names before sharing, or matching company templates. Some e-reader apps also use Title and Author as the display name.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Both the read and the rewrite happen entirely in your browser.
